Eravur Reading Circle (ERC) is a voluntary organisation dedicated to nurturing a culture of reading and intellectual exchange within our community. Founded with the belief that books can shape minds and transform societies, ERC has been working to promote reading habits, creative thought, and cultural awareness through meaningful initiatives.
Over the years, we have brought together readers, writers, and artists through diverse activities β from organising book fairs and film screenings to facilitating discussions, reading workshops, and library upliftment programmes. Our goal is to create a society that values books, celebrates creativity, and encourages continuous learning.
To build a society enriched by books, ideas, and artistic thought β where reading becomes a shared community experience.
To foster a vibrant reading culture and promote intellectual and artistic growth through access to books, discussions, and cultural exchange.
ERC has organised several book fairs in Eravur, bringing together readers, publishers, and authors for meaningful literary exchanges.
We host regular discussions on literary works and socially relevant films to foster critical thinking and dialogue.
Our workshops inspire children to explore books with curiosity and imagination through storytelling sessions and activities.
We organise book donation drives and help schools create vibrant libraries in underserved areas.
ERC hosts reading and literary competitions that inspire students to engage deeply with literature.
We recognise and celebrate local authors and artists who enrich our cultural landscape.
Our signature annual event β a seven-day cultural festival celebrating books, reading, and the arts. It blends literature, performance, and community interaction through exhibitions, plays, musical shows, and cultural art forms like Villupattu and Kolattam.
The event fosters mutual understanding among diverse communities and builds harmony through shared cultural appreciation.
Our publishing wing promoting local literature in Tamil and Sinhala through original works, translations, and reprints of significant titles.
ERCβs YouTube and social media initiative that highlights marginalised artists, cultural programs, and literary activities.
A community bookstore in Eravur that connects local readers with world literature and serves as a cultural hub for book lovers.
